The Test Kitchen Assistant supports the Test Kitchen in preparing food to Raising Cane’s standards while maintaining operational efficiency and food safety. This role encompasses project support, business support, and kitchen operations to ensure a clean, organized, and productive environment.
Your Impact and Responsibilities:
- Complete daily Test Kitchen tasks, including storing, prepping, cooking, cleaning, and fryer maintenance
- Support daily chicken reviews by scheduling, ordering, receiving, preparing samples, collecting data, and supporting tasting sessions
- Prepare tea and lemonade daily for the Dallas Restaurant Support Office (DRSO) lounges, including setup, teardown, and cleaning
- Assist with DRSO events with setup and tear down
- Execute vendor lunches and photo shoots by cooking and serving Raising Cane’s meals
- Support food, packaging, equipment, and smallwares research projects, including product pickup from local restaurants as needed
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant kitchen environment for cross-functional use
- Manage kitchen scheduling and ensure adherence to food safety protocols
- Serve as a point of contact for the Test Kitchen during team PTO, off-site testing, or other absences
Required Qualifications:
- 1+ years of restaurant or retail management experience, or 1+ years as a Raising Cane’s Restaurant Manager in good standing with Restaurant and field teams
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Detail-oriented, organized, and flexible for effective task management
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and collaboratively
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- ServSafe Certification
Essential Functions:
Candidates must be able to routinely work with and taste food products containing meat, dairy, sugar, and gluten. Work will be conducted in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment with regular exposure to raw chicken, dairy products, eggs, flour, citrus, and oil. Candidates must be able to stand and move throughout the restaurant for extended periods, lift, carry, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds. Additionally, they must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, ascend, or descend stairs as needed to support daily operations.
